First Blog for Cuba Travel Expeditions

Updated: Aug 15, 2024

Welcome to my brand new website and blog! My name is Jim Lewis. I’m passionate about the nation of Cuba. I’ve visited there more than 20 times over the past 25 years. Travel Industry research indicates that 75% of Americans have no interest in traveling to Cuba. However, many of those who have visited it say it was one of their very best experiences in a foreign country! This is a frustrating paradox for me.

Cuba is unique. There is no other country in such a complex situation with such a complicated history. Cuba has had way more than its share of significant events in world history. In addition, it was also the location of many significant events in American history. Over the past five hundred years there have been several critical points when it was predicted that Cuba would eventually become a significant world economic center along the lines of Switzerland or Singapore. That hasn’t happened….yet. With the recent seismic political shake-ups in the U.S., the odds have dramatically increased that there will soon be significant and welcome changes in Cuba. I want to encourage my fellow Americans to visit Cuba as soon as possible, and to teach them how to navigate the regulations that allow legal travel.

I plan to personally accompany 6-8 groups between now and June 2025. I also want to assist many more adventurers to travel on their own, perhaps meeting up with my friend and agent in Havana. But my main goal is to educate and assist Americans (and others) to become guides and lead their own groups. Most Americans just don't realze that there are numerous unique and fascinating things to see and experience in Cuba.

Since this is a new website, I hope you will be patient and understanding. I know there will be glitches, errors, and confusion. I’ll do my best to correct these, answer your questions, recommend various travel options, and provide links to other tour companies and travel coordinators.

Thank you again or your interest in one of the world’s most beautiful and mysterious countries. --Jim
